Impact of the digg effect

Yesterday one of our posts was linked to from boingboing and from there was on the digg home page as one of the most dugg stories of the day.

Steve Rubel recently had a post about about the digg effect and how it can effect your site.

Having just gone through this it really does have a massive effect.  Until now we've been seeing about 75 people reading each post but the 'featured one' has so far had more than 16,000 people view it which is more than 200 times what we would expect.

The image above is from one of Dave Sifry's State of the Blogosphere posts he shows how boingboing compares to mainstream media.  According to this it's the furthest up the curve but in today's experience we've had far more people coming to us from digg than boingboing.

However without boingboing digg would never have happened.  Thanks Cory.
